Siamese Kitten: Virginia
When searching for a Siamese kitten in Virginia, be sure to take your time and choose wisely. Try and pick the healthiest kitten you can
find.
Siamese cats are among the most beautiful and striking domestic cats in the world. With their amazing blue eyes, cream-colored body, and
distinctive colored points - they’re simply irresistible. Are you prepared to bring a Siamese kitten into your home? Which type do you like best?
What does a healthy kitten look like? These are some of the basic questions you should answer before picking a Siamese cat.
Are You Prepared For A Siamese Cat?
A Siamese cat requires more human affection and attention than other breeds - similar to a dog. If there’s no one home all day, a Siamese may
exhibit unwanted behavior - so they’re not a great choice for this type of household. One option that might help is to get two Siamese kittens
(littermates). This will give them a playmate to keep them occupied while you’re away, but they’ll still need plenty of human affection.
Another factor to consider before choosing a Siamese kitten is the noise factor. Siamese cats have excellent vocal abilities and they use them
quite often. So if you’re looking for a nice, quiet pet - a Siamese isn’t for you. In many cases, their loud vocalizations sound like a human
baby.
Types Of Siamese Kittens
Siamese cats come in two main body types - “Show Type” and “Traditional Type.”
The Show type Siamese have: long and slender bodies, legs and tail; wedge shaped heads; and large pointed ears.
The Traditional type Siamese have: shorter and stockier bodies; larger and more rounded heads; and more rounded ears.
All Siamese cats have a cream colored, short-haired, base coat with darker colored points on their face, ears, paws and tails. These points
come in various colors, with the Seal (dark brown), Chocolate (light brown), Blue (grey) and Lilac (purplish grey) being the most common. And
they have beautiful blue eyes.
Choosing A Healthy Siamese Kitten
A healthy Siamese kitten will have bright, clear eyes that focus straight ahead. The majority of Siamese cats used to be cross-eyed, but that
characteristic has been largely bred out through selective breeding. There should be no mucous (dried or wet) around the kitten’s eyes, ears or
nose. The coat should be smooth and free of sores or bald patches. The kitten should not walk with a limp and should be comfortable while being
held. Be sure to ask for any certificates or veterinarian records from the owner.
