Pet Portraits
Pet portraits are an excellent way to remember any pet -
dogs, cats, parrots, snakes, ferrets, or any other type of
animal you might own.
Many people absolutely adore their pets - myself included.
But, to be honest, I don't love all my pets equally. I love my
dogs and cats a whole lot more than my tropical fish. If one of
my dogs or cats were to die, I would be an emotional wreck for
quite a while. If one of my mollies or angelfish were to die, I
would be upset for a few days maybe - but I wouldn't be
devastated.
My dogs and cats are very real members of my family and I
have many photographs that will help me remember them when they
pass on. But I've discovered something a little more special
and personal than a photograph - pet portraits.
You may be thinking - "Yeah right, I can really see my dog
sitting for an hour or more while someone paints his portrait."
"Or the only way someone could paint my cat's portrait would be
if they were sleeping." Luckily, your pet won't need to sit for
hours on end to have his or her portrait done. All you'll need
to do is make copies of the best photos of your pet, and send
them to the pet artist - this is usually all that's required
for him to produce unique animal portraits.
You have many options when it comes to pet portraits. Since
they're taken from photographs, you can have them created many
years after your pet has passed away. And you'll find many
creative artists who can add you and your other family members
to the picture - even other pets if you want. As long as you
have semi-decent photographs, you're all set.
If you can't find someone who does professional pet
portraits in your area, then you'll find quite a few online.
Like I said, all you need to do is provide them with a few
photographs. To be on the safe side, I would send them copies
of your photos. Some companies will give you a choice of
mediums for your pet's portrait such as oils, watercolors,
pastels or even drawings.
Companion pet portraits are a wonderful idea for any animal
lover - whether you have a dog, cat, parrot, ferret, guinea
pig, snake, or any other type of animal. They're a nice
alternative to the common photograph - and provide a nice touch
to almost any décor.
