Dog Behavior Problems
Dog behavior problems aren't usually what we focus on when
thinking of adopting a puppy or adult dog. We usually focus on
all the positives. How much fun it will be to watch our puppy
play and grow up. And especially how great it will be to have
this animal show us unconditional love.
Everyone who owns a dog will have to deal with dog
behavioral problems at some point. Most dog breeds have issues
all their own, and each individual dog has issues all their own
- no two dogs are created equal.
Knowing how to deal with and fix canine behavior problems
will go a long way towards getting the most enjoyment out of
your new puppy. And remove a ton of stress out of your
life.
Remember that all people have to deal with bad dog behavior
in some form or other and it doesn't make your dog bad. It's
just that he really doesn't know any better - he needs you to
show him the way.
There are many great dog training tools you can take
advantage of to get rid of problem behavior and prevent future
problems from occurring. Breeders and especially veterinarians
are great sources to turn to for excellent advice. Also be sure
to check out your local library or Amazon for excellent books
on the subject. And of course you're already using the
internet.
Sometimes the quickest way to achieve behavior modification
in your dog is to attend local dog training and obedience
classes. These classes usually meet once or twice a week -
either one-on-one with a trainer or with other fellow dog
owners. A side benefit of attending dog classes is that you'll
see you're not alone - there are others who are struggling with
the same issues you are. It's kind of like a support group.
Always remember that whatever dog behavior problems you are
currently dealing with, they're not unique. Others have had to
overcome the exact same problems you have and there is a
solution out there - just be persistent.
